A pair of Grade 3 stakes on tap Saturday at Churchill Downs

传奇sf1.8Full fields and two Grade 3 stakes for fillies and mares highlight the Saturday card at Churchill Downs. The Winning Colors, which honors the 1988 Kentucky Derby winning filly who was trained by D. Wayne Lukas, drew a field of nine to sprint six furlongs in race 7. While 14 are slated to go a mile and a sixteenth on the turf in the Mint Julep in race 11.

Both races will be part of the America’s Day at The Races 传奇sf1.8broadcast on the Fox Sports Network (FS2) from 1:00 to 6:30 pm ET.

Race 7 – Winning Colors – 4:08 pm ET – (8) Mia Mischief won both of her starts in 2020 after a winter freshening. The Steve Asmussen runner rated kindly in an allowance and then a stakes race at Oaklawn Park. She has a stellar record at Churchill Downs and at today’s six-furlong distance. (7) Spiced Perfection was the winner of a pair of Grade 1s and Grade 2s last year at tracks on both coasts and now makes her debut for new trainer Mark Casse after a five-month layoff. The mare ran well fresh in the past. (2) Break Even won her first seven career starts in front running fashion. She was off after her first defeat and trainer Brad Cox brought her back at Oaklawn where she won allowance in April. (3) Princess Causeway传奇sf1.8 is the winner of four allowances for Ian Wilkes and now seeks her first stakes win after her 2020 debut that earned a career high speed figure.

Race 11 – Mint Julep (G3) – 6:16 pm ET – (6) Nay Lady Nay was last seen winning the Mrs. Revere (G2) at Churchill Downs back in November for Chad Brown. The layoff should be no problem for the Irish-bred filly. (1) Juliet Foxtrot won her first three races in America for trainer Brad Cox after beginning her career in Great Britain. She won the Modesty (G3) and then tangled with the best turf females in the America running second and third. She makes her 2020 debut after a winter layoff. (7) Secret Message faced the best turf females all last year for trainer Graham Motion whose barn has come out ready to win in Kentucky thus far. (2) Beau Recall is also from the Cox barn. Her last four starts came in 2019 against Grade 1 and 2 company and she notched two wins, one at Del Mar and the other at Churchill.
